How Dirty are your Brushes?

For some of us the holiday season means an exorbitant amount of free time around the house. And I have dedicated this rare down time to updating my beauty routine. After reading this month's InStyle I realized my less than stellar skin could (gasp) be my own fault! One article spoke of the importance of cleaning your make-up brushes at least once a month, imagine how embarrassed I felt realizing I have never cleaned my brushes. Cue an immediate, intensive cleaning session.

The pending question soon became, "How the heck do I actually clean these things?!" After some online research and referencing my now beauty lifeline (aka InStyle), I can properly clean my previously horrifying brushes.

1. Wet your brushes in the sink, but angle them down to prevent water from seeping into the handle. Completely soaking a brush could weaken the glue that holds the bristles together and ruin the brush.
2. Place a dab of shampoo, I used my Pantene Pro-V, directly onto the bristles.
3. Massage that shampoo deep onto the brush! And repeat if necessary, trust me it was necessary.
4. Rise the shampoo out by, again, angling the brush so only the bristles are wet.
5. Once the brush is as clean as a whistle, re-shape the wet bristles and lay the brush flat on a towel to dry.

Make sure you give the brushes one day to fully dry. Do not clean them right before a big night out!

Trust me when I say you will feel a huge difference the next time you put on your bronzer. I am officially converted to a lifetime of clean brushes and hope you all will join me!

Britney's Criminal Activities

Britney Spear's latest addition to her expansive career is the music video for Criminal, her latest single off her 7th studio album Femme Fatale. For the first time her current boyfriend Jason Trawick, her former talent agent, appears in the video as one part of the Bonnie and Clyde duo.  

The video was filmed in London while Britney was on the European leg of her incredibly successful Femme Fatale tour. However we all know that it isn't a Britney video without a bit of controversy. Her production team was criticized for shooting with a replica gun and condoning violence, because in England they have an incredibly strict gun policy. But as always Britney managed to come out scratch free and looking fabulous.

Jessica Simpson is a "Mummy"

After much speculation, Jessica Simpson finally announced what we already knew, she's pregnant! Yesterday she tweeted a link to her website, showing this picture titled "It's true! I'm going to be a Mummy!" Besides the glam'd out costume shot, it is about time this became public knowledge. The pregnancy rumors, and very visible baby bump photos, have taken over the internet for over a month.

An even stronger rumor is that Jessica, along with her fiance Eric Johnson, have been holding out for a lucrative tabloid cover. Clearly that didn't pan out as they announced the news for free yesterday! 

This is Jessica's first child but (almost) second husband. We are all aware of the incredibly public marriage and divorce between her and former boybander Nick Lachey, who himself has recently been remarried to host Vanessa Minnillo. In more ex-news, Jessica's most pervious high profile ex-boyfriend, Tony Romo, has also recently announced that his new wife, Candice Crawford's  (yes, Chase Crawford's sister) pregnant! Did you manage to keep up?

Shockingly since her previous loves have already moved on, Jessica has fended quite well for herself. She has establish a fashion empire (estimated net worth of $100 million), founded a skin care web-site called Beauty Mint, got engaged and then became pregnant with her first child all by the age of 31!

Now the real question is it a girl or boy?!

Kimmy K a Divorcee

One of our reality centerpieces Kim Kardashian has stolen the spotlight from a national holiday by announcing her divorce from her NBA soon-to-be ex-hubby Kris Humphries. Now I know you all heard this news while at work and gossiped endlessly with your co-workers, in our age of technology this ain't breaking news. Our little Poison Ivy, as seen above in her Halloween costume, has turned our "reality" upside down. In an attempt to put this catastrophe in perspective, here is a timeline of the whirlwind.

December 2010 - Kim and Kris are officially dating, they meet while Kim was filming the last season of Kourtney and Kim Take New York.

February 2011 - Kris turns 26 (?!... yes he is five years younger than Kim and he is younger than Khloe).

May 2011 - Kris proposes with a 2 million dollar diamond ring, as we all saw on their wedding special.

Two weeks later - Kim and Kris grace the pages of People magazine announcing their engagement and then Twitter exploded.

August 2011 - Kim and Kris were happily married in a lavish and speculated to be $20 million ceremony and reception. While it was also reported that Kim and Kris earned $18 million from the event. (To be honest no one is sure if the $18 million is out of the $20 million.)

Early October 2011 - Kim's Fairytale Wedding debuts to the world in a two part special on E! And as always the Kardashian Klan delivered in the ratings.

Halloween - Kim files for divorce, supposedly "blind-siding" Mr. Humphries.

November 2011 - Now the most awkward moment will happen during the upcoming new season of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, which features the newlyweds and the surprisingly better behaved non-married couple of Scott and Kourtney, on Nov. 27th. See the now embarrassing promo here: KKTNY 

Now here comes the mind numbing speculation of affairs, alimony, publicity and classic he said she said.  Bottom line no one wants to be Kim while she lives out her 72 day failed marriage in the press, or do they? There has been speculation that this entire marriage was a sham for publicity and that cash money. How much do we think the "I've filed for divorce" exclusive cover story is going to cost Life & Style? I have a feeling this divorce is going to be, or set up as by Kris Jenner, a dragged out affair and I cannot wait for it to be over and done with. 

As a side note Kim was married before, in 2000 she wed music producer Damon Thomas. She was 19, he was 30. Not only did she keep the marriage a secret from her entire family but remained in wedded bliss until 2004. 

Now that this has all been addressed, can we move on?
